Observations

Option C - The Yellow Option

Dear Sir/Madam

This is a submission on behalf of St, Margarets The Ward Residents Group. This Group represents the Residents of The St Margarets and The Ward Communities.  The attached sketch map SK/01 indicates the approximate area of The St. Margarets/The Ward area on a Fingal County Council planning map.  The Group are involved in matters relating to the proper planning and sustainable development within the St. Margarets/The Ward area  and projects affecting the residents of these Communities.

We confirm that we participated in the Community Forum meetings organised by Eirgrid and would firstly like to compliment Eirgrid on the very involved nature of Public Consultation provided to ensure that all members of the Community were given ample information and opportunities to understand the Nature of the project and the reasons behind the emerging preferences for routes selected for the project.

We note that residents in St Margarets/The Ward area  have particular concerns regarding the yellow route which indicates Kileek Lane on Option C and The Broughan Lane on Option B The Green option as potential routes. Both of these routes are very narrow country roads and therefore the nature of the proposed works are such that there are grave concerns that temporary closures of these roads may be required which could cause considerable problems to the residents along these routes.  Therefore consideration should be given to alternate routes other than these 2.

We also note that there are large works proposed at Dublin Airport in the future.  One such project is the excavation of large quantities of soil to construct a new tunnel to the West of the Airport.  It is proposed to haul the excavated material through The St Margarets/The Ward area and therefore it is imperative that his activity is not being carried out at the same time as the Eirgrid project s this would cause serious congestion of traffic in the area.

We further note that a new Westerly Road is proposed through St. Margarets/The Ward area from the roundabout at the Broughan on the M2 and extending to the M1 North of Swords.  If this route was to be planned in the near future it would serve as an ideal route for the Eirgrid project.

Obviously the residents in The St. Margarets/The Ward area will require constant update on the programming of the works and as to how this may affect them on a day to day basis.  It is essential therefore that Eirgrid keep a close relationship with our group so we can inform residents of the proposed activities through our Web site and Facebook portals and also at public meetings which we hold on a regular basis.

We in St Margarets/The Ward are very proud of our Communities and we strive to continuously add to and upgrade our Community facilities such as our Community Hall at St Margarets GAA, our walking track, sports grounds and Community Memorial Monuments for  our deceased community members, members who participated in the War of Independence and the 1916 Rising and past members of the ICA Guild.  We confirm that with close co-operation between Eirgrid and the Communities we are of the opinion that we can work together so that Eirgrid can deliver this project in a manner that is acceptable to all and that Eirgrid can deliver benefits to the Community.
